Pastor Samuel Durai

I am Samuel Durai, s/o G. Nallasamy and
Alice Gnanam, born to the Christian parents, and brought up in a good Christian
atmosphere. Thank God for the missionaries who sowed the seed of WORD OF GOD in
our village.
My father, who was working in a Christian management
school gave me the BIBLE and the Christian discipline. I was interested in the
Word of God and memorized one verse each day. By God’s grace, I was grown up in
a good discipline until my 11th standard, until I stayed with my parents; but
when I went out to stay away from my parents, for my college study, all evil
entered in my heart and some evil habits also. I became a film fanatic and got
addicted to cinema along with its other attractions. My mind was meditating on
those songs and music. I simply ignored my devotion and Christian life. I began
to roam on the roads, theater after theater without peace of mind. I did not
understand the reason for my emptiness in the heart.
It was summer vacation in 1967. I went to
stay in Ooty with my maternal aunty, who is really a praying and committed
woman, directed my way towards a Gospel meeting there. There I found the reason
for my emptiness. As the preacher was preaching, God was speaking to me of my
sins. I was in tears by the end of the meeting. The Lord convicted me of my
sins, that night, I confessed all my sins God brought before me as it is
written in Psalms 50: 18-20:- "
When you see thieves, you approve of them,
and you spend your time with adulterers. Your mouth is filled with wickedness,
and your tongue is full of lies. You sit around and slander your brother— your
own mother’s son."
As I started confessing my sins, I
experienced a great joy, which I cannot express in words and free to fly in the
air in the spirit. Then I understood and accepted that the Christianity I was
born and brought up, is the truth, and Christ is still alive, and the Word of
God is living and speaking to me. I enjoyed a great happiness in my life.
Later, I started a prayer group for the
youth in our village. God helped me to continue my study and complete my B.A.
graduation in Economics. The change made me to commit my life to Lord's
ministry in 1973, when I was 23 years old. I attended the Bible College in
Chennai, finished my theological studies and since doing God’s work for the
past 37 years. I am happy with GOD’S calling for His ministry, and with
commitment doing the ministry in the church and in teaching the WORD OF GOD.
